He married Bonnie Louise Waddell in St. Pauls Presbyterian Church, Cottage City, MD, June 12, 1965. Bonnie was born in Cheverly Community Hospital October 1, 1946. At 19 years of age Bonnie became the mother of Pamela Jeanne Lewis in George Washington University Hospital, Washington, DC, April 20, 1966. At 21 years of age Bonnie became the mother of Timothy John Lewis in Prince Georges General Hospital, December 24, 1967.

At 20 years of age John became the father of Pamela Jeanne Lewis in George Washington University Hospital, Washington, DC, April 20, 1966. At 22 years of age John became the father of Timothy John Lewis in Prince Georges General Hospital, December 24, 1967.

John Gary Lewis and Bonnie Louise Waddell had the following children:
