2. Major James² Scarborough (David¹) was born in Surry County, VA November 28, 1748. Major died March, 1836 in Wilson County, NC, at 87 years of age. His body was interred March, 1832 in Wilson County, NC.

He married Penelope Parmer Eason 1793. Penelope was born in Edgecomb County, NC March 26, 1749. Penelope died October 16, 1822 in Edgecomb County, NC, at 73 years of age. Her body was interred October, 1822 in Edgecomb County, NC. At 45 years of age Penelope became the mother of Martha Palmer Scarborough in Edgecomb County, NC, 1794.

At 45 years of age Major became the father of Martha Palmer Scarborough in Edgecomb County, NC, 1794.

Major James Scarborough and Penelope Parmer Eason had the following children:

3 i. John R.³ Scarborough.

4 ii. Martha Palmer Scarborough was born in Edgecomb County, NC 1794. She married Joshua Barnes Eason in Edgecomb County, NC, July 8, 1812. Joshua was born in Edgecomb County, NC 1789. Joshua was the son of Coburn Eason and Elizabeth Barnes. At 28 years of age Joshua became the father of Millicent Eason in Macclesfield, NC, January 28, 1818. At 23 years of age Martha became the mother of Millicent Eason in Macclesfield, NC, January 28, 1818.
